We have had a great summer at The Imagination Station and we have some wonderful things happening in the near future.
First, please take a look at the image above that shows our vision for the Creative Campus we intend to create. The house on the left will be transformed into a historic rehab from the street view but the rear will be an outdoor art gallery. Our installations will change quarterly. The house on the right will be a "green" rehab with a media center on the ground floor and living space above. The innovative nature of our team's vision extends to what we are describing as "pavillions" which are to be built on the now vacant lots. We are confident our creative design plans will be warmly embraced by all.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
The Imagination Station of Roosevelt Park in Detroit is pleased to collaborate with Montreal’s DARE-DARE team for their Satellite Project. Like DARE-DARE, The Imagination Station team seeks to provide a flexible, open space devoted to research, experimentation, risk, critical inquiry and maybe even some fun. In addition, the Imagination Station team believes these same creative inclinations provide the necessary foundation to be creative on the internet, in community development and in “green” innovations. Together, for three weeks beginning Friday, September 23 DARE-DARE and The Imagination Station team will partner for educational events and collaboration between a Canadian artist and Detroit-based artist both of which will do SOMETHING on our campus. Stay tuned for more details.
But, we need a Detroit-based artist now! If you would like to submit a proposal or learn more about the artist-in-residence collaboration please see the Request for Entries tab above (to be completed very soon).
And while you're here, please drop your email in the box up top to receive periodic updates, and be sure to follow us on Facebook and/or Twitter.
We're hard at work transforming two blighted historic houses and a field of possibility into a creative campus dedicated to the future of Detroit. We love company, so please come by and visit us, and we need support, so please tell your friends, reach out with partnerships or resources, and consider a donation.
You rock,
❤ The Imagination Station Team
Here's a folk art Facebook Like button that a volunteer painted on one of our boarded up windows. Dang thing actually works! Try it:
